Very good shots from Lincoln, Art. It's amazing how many different cars go to Lincoln, but not the Grove... the two tracks are about 1/2 hour drive away from one another. Some of the pro photogs at Wms Grove complained that "they've ruined Lincoln," by adding a three level guard rail on the inside of the track. Did you notice that if the cars were huggin the inside of the track that the new guard rail bocked your view of the cars?
I had the good fortune to go to the Grove Friday night for the WOO show. 46 cars towed in, even though the temps were in the mid-high 90's and oppressive humidity. But the big story, for our board members from Australia, there was a caution on the 22nd lap and Donnie Shatz had taken the lead. Joey Saldana, Fred Rahmer had crashed out. I think most folks left in attendance were ready to accept that with only three laps to go, the checker would go to Donny. The green flag drops and Daryn Pittman blasts down the front stretch, bonzai's into turn one and puts the all-time slide job on the #15 right in front of me in turn two. Schatz tried to re-pass him, but the #21 held. On the white flag lap, Donnie tried one last time to pass him, bangs the right rear off the outside fence and still can't catch him. The fans on Beer Hill went nuts!
Lots of pictures. I'll send some to Joe and maybe he can post them. No Remington car there so I asked at his souvenir trailer and was told that he's running a "limited schedule."

My shots are ok, but I've got nothing on the shooters in this area, lol. Some of the pics they snag are incredible. I just do it for fun and it helps with my artwork. I usually stand in the infield of turn 3 at Lincoln...I don't notice the rail being a problem at all unless ya try to shoot right at the apex of the turn. In my opinion, the best shots of the cars are right when the driver sets it going into the corner, not rounding the apex whether it be high or low. The attitude of a sprint at that angle is what I picture in my mind when I think of sprints.
As far as the friday night show goes, I too went nuts when Pittman pulled that off. I loved seeing Shatz get beat at the grove. Don't get me wrong...I think Donny is one of the best every race but he's owned the grove during the past few years. It was nice to see someone else take it. Last night Donny was back up front and took the win. Being from Posse land I wished our local boys would've run better. Maybe next time.

Well, on the basis that Darryn P's team is Aussie-owned (by Reeve Kruck, the CEO of Titan Garages & Sheds) I'm more than happy to claim their Grove victory as an Australian one!
It's a sweet victory because I don't think the Titan Team has had too good a run this season - until lately.
This Grove win comes on the back of news (I got it from another website) that Darryn Pittman recently took out the King's Royal at Eldora!
Sure looks like they're hitting some good form now! Well, there is an element of good luck too - but after all the early season bad luck (a lot of motor problems and DNF's) I think it's a cool payback!
